Whether you’re moving into a new home, transporting your hot tub to the other side of your backyard or buying your first spa, at some point you may have to move your spa to another location. Over the years, you’ve probably made a lot of great memories in your hot tub, which can make the idea of moving it worrying. You don’t want to damage your spa, but you don’t want to leave it behind either.
Fortunately, all ThermoSpas® hot tubs are portable and can be easily moved if you know the best ways to do it and plan ahead. We have come up with four simple tips to help you move your
spa safely.
Hire a Spa Expert
Hot tubs aren’t the simplest things to move around if you don’t have the experience or tools to do so. We suggest you hire a hot tub expert or movers with experience transporting hot tubs to help you move your spa. This will help ensure that you won’t damage your hot tub and will make installation fast and easy.
If you’re buying a new ThermoSpas® hot tub, our delivery team will transport your hot tub safely and effectively to your home. Our hot tub experts can also help you decide the best new location to install your new spa.

Fully Drain, Clean and Inspect Your Hot Tub
The last thing you’ll want to deal with while moving your hot tub is water spilling and damaging your carpeting, floor or furniture. To avoid this, you’ll want to make sure all of the water is
cleared out of your hot tub and its plumbing before you move it. Luckily, this is an easy process.
After draining your spa with a submersible pump or hose, clean it and check for any damages. This way you’ll be able to identify if any damage occurred during the moving process.
Next, clear the water from the pump’s suction and return lines using a canister-type wet vacuum. If your hot tub model has a blower, turn it on to expel water from the plumbing and air
channels, and use the wet vacuum to remove any existing water in the fittings and spa shell. We recommended reading and following our step-by-step guide to closing and draining your hot tub before you move.
If you’re moving your spa to a location with freezing temperatures, this process is especially important. Failing to drain all of the water from your hot tub can cause damage in colder climates. If
you don’t want to drain your spa yourself, a ThermoSpas technician can do it for you. Schedule a technician now by calling 1-800-876-0158.
Prepare Your New Hot Tub Site
You don’t want to begin moving your hot tub only to find out that you have nowhere to place it. Make sure you prepare your new hot tub’s space before moving day. Remove any plants, bushes, debris or furniture that could get in the way of your spa. It’s also important to make sure that you plan a route for carrying the hot tub to its new location. Once you figure out how you’re going to get it there, fully clear the route of any objects to allow for an easy move.
Inspect Your Hot Tub After It’s Been Moved
Sometimes mistakes happen while moving. After your hot tub has been delivered to its new location, thoroughly inspect it for any new signs of damage.
Do not use your hot tub if the damage is severe. Instead, speak to a hot tub technician to find out what needs to be done to fix your spa. Depending on the issue, a technician should be able to get
your hot tub back in working condition in no time.
We hope these tips help make your hot tub move as stress-free as possible.
