It was the night after Thanksgiving, Friday November 26th, 1999. I was home from college to spend the long weekend with my family and loved ones. Little did I know that this Friday night would change my life forever and be a night I’d never forget. After enjoying the night with some friends at a local hangout, I returned to my parent’s house with these friends to hang out and to reminisce about old times. Time was flying by and it became late, so everyone decided to go to bed. I offered my room to a guest and elected to sleep on the downstairs couch. It was around 4 am when I decided to go to sleep but I was kept up by a pounding headache. Never before had I had a headache of this magnitude and I quickly began to worry. Unable to fall asleep a friend from upstairs came to where I was and found me in agony. She asked me if there was anything she could do to help and I replied, “Let’s see what mom has to say about all of this.” Being a nurse and noticing the severity of my pain, my mother, father, and friend quickly loaded me into the car and headed to a hospital. Within hours at the hospital and after numerous tests, I was in a coma and diagnosed with Bacterial Meningitis. The outlook wasn’t too bright and everyone was worried. After 5 days I finally awoke from my coma. Doctors held special meetings/conferences discussing the severity, procedures, and miracle of my recovery! I began to make 100% gains everyday and was eventually released from the hospital about 8 days later. Little did I know how hard recuperating would be. I was prescribed numerous amounts of intravenous medicine. On the first night of taking this medicine, I broke out with a horrible rash. What luck! I get out of the hospital only to find myself itchy and scratchy from a rash caused by the medicine that I needed to get well. Realizing that I needed this medicine, my family and I quickly turned to ThermoSpa.
